TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (August 30, 2016) – The Florida College System Activities Association (FCSAA) has released its NJCAA Region 8 Volleyball Coaches' Poll for August 30 and Player, Defensive Player and Setter of the Week selections for matches played through August 28.
The next poll and individual weekly awards will be released September 6.

NJCAA Region 8/FCSAA Volleyball Player of the Week
Nathaly Alvarez, Central Florida
Sophomore – Setter

- Led the Patriots to three wins in four matches at the Hillsborough Kickoff Classic, including a straight set victory over host and Region 8 No. 1/NJCAA No. 3 Hillsborough
- Averaged 2.6 kills, 2.2 digs, 6.1 assists, 0.4 blocks and 2.8 points per set (13 total sets) while posting a 0.622 hitting percentage
- Due to injuries, played as a hitter/setter and posted a hitting percentage of .667 or better in three of four matches
- Played her best match against Hillsborough, posting a quadruple-double (14 kills, 20 assists, 12 digs, 15 points) in the 3-0 victory

NJCAA Region 8/FCSAA Volleyball Defensive Player of the Week

- Helped lead the Panthers to two wins in three matches
- Averaged 5.9 digs over a total of eight sets played
- Posted 16 digs in a 3-0 win over Pensacola State then tallied 31 digs in a 3-1 win over State College of Florida

NJCAA Region 8/FCSAA Volleyball Setter of the Week

- Averaged 8.3 assists over five matches and 19 total sets
- Also averaged 0.9 kills, 0.7 service aces, 2.3 digs and 0.6 blocks
- Posted at least 25 assists in each match, including three 30+ assist efforts – high of 39 assists vs. Daytona State
