BRADENTON, Fla. (November 6, 2016) - Miami Dade College won the NJCAA District/FCSAA State Volleyball Championship, knocking off Santa Fe College, three sets to none, to punch its ticket to the NJCAA Division I Volleyball Championship in Casper, Wyo.

The championship is the 43rd in the Sharks' storied history and 16th in the last 20 seasons. Despite the loss, Santa Fe's season is not over.

The Saints qualified for the national tournament with a semifinal win over top-ranked College of Central Florida in the semifinal round. After falling to the Patriots twice in the regular season, Santa Fe defeated Central Florida, 3-1, on Saturday to punch its first trip to nationals.

Central Florida staved off elimination with a 3-2 win over St. Petersburg and moved into the District O Championship against Polk State College in a rematch of Friday's opening round. Central Florida knocked off Polk State the first time around but, on Sunday, the Eagles got their revenge, winning the match 3-0 to claim Region 8's final bid in the national tournament field.

Miami Dade's Massiel Matos was named the Tournament's Most Outstanding Player.
