The Eastern Florida State College women's volleyball team opened the Southern Conference season with a straight set victory Tuesday night.

The Titans, who are now 9-4 overall and 1-0 in the conference, defeated Broward 25-11, 25-22, 25-22 on the road.

Malvis Ortiz continued her strong play as she recorded a team-high nine kills while teammate Rachael Gunn added eight. Jenna Barnak finished with five assisted blocks.

Eastern Florida, who is No. 8 in the latest Region 8 poll, will return to Titan Field House on Thursday night, hosting No. 9 Indian River State College in a Southern Conference matchup. Game time is 6 p.m. and admission is free.
