FCSAA Volleyball Notebook: September 29

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (September 29, 2015) – The Florida College System Activities Association (FCSAA) has released its Volleyball Coaches' Poll and Player, Defensive Player and Setter of the Week selections for September 29.

The next poll will be released October 6.

NJCAA Region 8/FCSAA Volleyball Player of the Week
Yue Wu, Polk State
Freshman – Outside Hitter/Right Side Hitter
Shanghai, China 

  • Lead Polk State to a 3-1 week, including wins over FCSAA No. 9 Miami Dade and No. 8 Daytona State
  • Averaged 6.0 kills, 4.0 digs, 0.3 assists, 0.2 service aces, 0.5 blocks and 6.4 points per set (15 total sets) while tallying a .303 hitting percentage
  • Recorded double-doubles in each match, including a 20-kill, 23-dig effort vs. South Florida State
  • Had a season-high 33 kills vs. Central Florida and leads the nation in total kills (315)

NJCAA Region 8/FCSAA Volleyball Defensive Player of the Week

  • Lead Polk State to a 3-1 week, including wins over FCSAA No. 9 Miami Dade and No. 8 Daytona State
  • Averaged 5.2 digs over a total of 15 sets played
  • Was double-figures in digs in all four matches, including 20+ dig efforts vs. South Florida State (20) and nationally-ranked Central Florida (23)
  • Ranks among the FCSAA’s top ten in both total digs (333, 4th) and digs per set (4.44, 8th)

NJCAA Region 8/FCSAA Volleyball Setter of the Week

  • Helped Central Florida to a 4-1 week, including wins over nationally-ranked Polk State and State College of Florida
  • Averaged 10.1 assists over five matches and 19 total sets. Also averaged 1.9 digs, 1.5 kills, 0.2 service aces and 0.5 blocks while tallying a .313 hitting percentage
  • Recorded a pair of 40+ assist efforts – vs. Polk State (49) and Miami Dade (40) – and added 10 kills and 11 digs vs. Polk State for a triple-double
  • Leads all of Region 8 and is fourth nationally (DI) in total assists (819) and is third in Region 8 and fifth nationally in assists per set (11.2)
