FCSAA Volleyball Notebook: September 15

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (September 15, 2015) – The Florida College System Activities Association (FCSAA) has released its Volleyball Coaches' Poll and Player, Defensive Player and Setter of the Week selections for September 15.

The next poll will be released September 22.

NJCAA Region 8/FCSAA Volleyball Player of the Week

Freshman – Outside Hitter/Right Side Hitter
Shanghai, China 

  • Lead Polk State to a 3-1 week, including wins over NJCAA No. 6 Iowa Western and No. 8 Blinn
  • Averaged 4.1 kills, 3.7 digs, 0.2 assists, 0.7 service aces, 0.5 blocks and 5.1 points per set (15 total sets)
  • Recorded double-doubles in wins over Iowa Western (14 kills/11 digs) and Blinn (26 kills/20 digs)

NJCAA Region 8/FCSAA Volleyball Defensive Player of the Week

  • Helped lead Indian River State to a 4-1 week
  • Averaged 4.8 digs over a total of 17 sets played
  • Was double-figures in digs in all five matches, including her third entry into the 25 Dig Club with 25 vs. Florida College
  • Is currently No. 2 in the FCSAA in total digs (214)

NJCAA Region 8/FCSAA Volleyball Setter of the Week
Teddi Wright, Pasco-Hernando State
Sophomore
Lutz, Fla. 

  • Helped Pasco-Hernando State to a 4-1 record last week, including a 3-0 win over NJCAA (DII) No. 14 Catawba Valley
  • Averaged 12.1 assists over five matches and 17 total sets. Also averaged 4.2 digs, 0.2 kills, 0.4 service aces and 0.5 blocks while tallying a .571 hitting percentage
  • Recorded three 40+ assist efforts – vs. Santa Fe (46), Colorado Northwestern (42) and Cape Fear (49) – and was double-digits in digs in all but one of the five matches.
  • Leads all of Region 8 and is fourth nationally (DII) in assists/set (11.4)
