Hillsborough's Briana Stowell named NJCAA Volleyball Player of the Week

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (October 14, 2015) - Hillsborough Community College's Briana Stowell has been named the NJCAA's Division I Volleyball Player of the Week.

Stowell was named the NJCAA Region 8/FCSAA Setter of the Week on Tuesday.

A freshman from Orlando, Fla., Stowell averaged 9.8 assists over five matches and 18 total sets during the voting period. She helped Hillsborough to a perfect 5-0 record last week and also averaged 1.6 digs, 0.9 kills, 0.2 service aces and 0.6 blocks while tallying a .359 hitting percentage. 

Stowell's top effort came against Palm Beach State when she recorded a double-double, 45 assists and 10 digs. She closed the week with 42 assists in a Southern Conference win over Indian River State.

She currently ranks fourth in Region 8 in total assists (768) and is eighth in assists per set (8.5)

Stowell is the third Region 8 player of the week recipient in 2015 - Pasco-Hernando State College's Teddi Wright was named Division II Player of the Week on September 16 while Polk State College's Yue Wu was named Division I Player of the Week on September 23.
