FCSAA Volleyball Notebook: October 13

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (October 13, 2015) – The Florida College System Activities Association (FCSAA) has released its Volleyball Coaches' Poll and Player, Defensive Player and Setter of the Week selections for October 13.

The next poll will be released October 20.

  • Helped Eastern Florida State to two wins in three matches during the voting period
  • Averaged 4.2 kills, 3.6 digs, 0.1 assists, 0.3 service aces and 4.5 points per set (12 total sets) while tallying a .318 hitting percentage
  • Recorded double-doubles in all three matches: 17 kills, 15 digs vs. Webber JV; 15 kills, 13 digs vs. Pensacola State; and 18 kills, 15 digs vs. Gulf Coast State

  • Averaged 6.2 digs over a total of 12 sets played
  • Delivered a pair of 25-Dig Club efforts – 28 vs. Indian River State (W, 3-2) and 26 vs. Hillsborough (L, 3-1)
  • Currently second in Region 8 in total digs (482)

NJCAA Region 8/FCSAA Volleyball Setter of the Week

  • Helped Hillsborough to a perfect 5-0 record last week
  • Averaged 9.8 assists over five matches and 18 total sets. Also averaged 1.6 digs, 0.9 kills, 0.2 service aces and 0.6 blocks while tallying a .359 hitting percentage
  • Her top effort came against Palm Beach State when she recorded a double-double, 45 assists and 10 digs. She closed the week with 42 assists in a Southern Conference win over Indian River State
  • Ranks fourth in Region 8 in total assists (768) and is eighth in assists per set (8.5)

·         Helped lead Indian River State to four wins in four matches, as the Pioneers ran their winning streak to 13

·         Averaged 4.1 kills, 4.9 digs, 0.1 assists, 0.5 service aces, 0.2 blocks and 4.8 points per set (11 total sets) while tallying a .336 hitting percentage

·         Recorded double-doubles vs. Florida State College at Jacksonville (13 kills, 14 digs) and Daytona State (16 kills, 31 digs)

NJCAA Region 8/FCSAA Volleyball Defensive Player of the Week

·         Helped Hillsborough earn a split of its two Suncoast Conference matches

·         Averaged 6.2 digs over a total of 9 sets played

·         Delivered a pair of 25-Dig Club efforts – 29 vs. State College of Florida (W, 3-1) and 27 vs. Polk State (L, 3-2)

·         Currently leads Region 8 and is 11th nationally in total digs (423) and is fourth in Region 8 and 10th  nationally in digs per set (5.49)

NJCAA Region 8/FCSAA Volleyball Setter of the Week

·         Helped lead Indian River State to four wins in four matches, as the Pioneers ran their winning streak to 13

·         Averaged 11.5 assists over four matches and 13 total sets. Also averaged 3.0 digs, 0.4 kills, 0.2 service aces and 0.2 blocks while tallying a .571 hitting percentage

·         Her top efforts came in the first (39 assists vs. Florida State College at Jacksonville) and last (48 assists vs. Daytona State) matches of the week. She also had 16 digs in the latter to finish with her second double-double of the week – she had 29 assists and 11 digs vs. Webber JV

·         Currently inside the Region 8 Top Ten in total assists and is top 15 in assists per set
