#4 SCF Opens Suncoast Play With A Win

BRADENTON, Fla. (September 18, 2015) - The State College of Florida (SCF) Manatees, defeated the South Florida State College (SFSC) Panthers on Thursday night in Hal Chasey Gymnasium (3-1).

The Manatees took the first two sets without ever losing the lead (25-12, 25-18).  In the third set, the Manatees' reserves saw some action and paced SFSC point for point to 20-20 before giving up the set 22-25. In set four, the Manatees returned the same line up to the court from the first two sets.  SCF bested SFSC 25-18 in the fourth set to win the match 3-1.

Jessica Emile (M, Hollywood, FL) led the night for the Manatees on attacking with 12 kills (0.348). Marion Vaucher (OH, Geneva, Switzerland) and Jenny D'Alessandro (M, Port Charlotte, FL) each contributed 9 kills, with Vaucher hitting 0.421 and D'Alessandro 0.316.   Sanja Vojnovic (S, Bijeljina, Bosnia) posted 44 assists for an 11.0 assists per game average.  Defensively, Taylor LaFavre (OH, Bradenton, FL) led the team with 14 digs, followed by Vaucher with 11.

The Manatess are 4-1 on the season and 1-0 in Suncoast Conference play.  SCF is ranked 4th in the FCSAA Coaches poll and 12th in the NJCAA Division 1 Volleyball Poll.  With the loss, the Panthers are now 1-9 on the season and 0-1 in the conference. 

The Manatees play at home again Thursday September 24th against the Titans in St. Petersburg College.  First serve for this Suncoast Conference match is scheduled for 6:00 pm.
