CF Volleyball's Otero named FCSAA Player of the Year, Adami named to All-State

OCALA-- For the second time in school history, the College of Central Florida volleyball program has the FCSAA State Player of the Year.

After a record-breaking freshman season, Julymar Otero earned FCSAA State Volleyball Player of the Year in a season where she led the nation in kills per set (4.71).

Otero is the first CF player to earn state player of the year honors since 2012 when Vanessa Benke earned the honor. It was Benke's single-season kill record that Otero also surpassed at the state tournament.

Otero ended with 537 kills on the season, four better than Benke, which the former CF great set in 2011.

During the state tournament this past week, Otero totaled 64 kills in four matches and was named to the all-tournament team along with Marina Adami, who ended a great career with the Patriots.

Adami dished out 159 assists in four matches in the state tournament and ended her career at CF with 3,002 assists. She also holds the single-season and single-match school record for assists.

Otero and Adami were also named FCSAA First Team All-State for the Patriots, who missed out on a fourth straight trip to the national tournament by one match.
