JACKSONVILLE- For the first time in its four years of existence, the College of Central Florida volleyball team will not be making an appearance at the NJCAA National Tournament.

The Patriots (29-10) went 2-2 on the week at the FCSAA/NJCAA Region VIII Tournament and saw their dreams of another trip to nationals end with a four-set loss to Polk State.

CF had navigated past Palm Beach State and Santa Fe College after an opening round loss to State College of Florida, but fell to Polk for the first time since 2011.

Earlier this season, the Patriots had won twice over the Eagles, but with a chance to advance to Sunday's district qualifier for a bid to nationals, they came up short.

Despite the loss, CF saw Julymar Otero finish the season with a single-season record for kills at 537, four more than Vanessa Benke's old mark of 533 in 2011. Otero ended the tournament with 64 kills, including a tournment-high of 19.

In the Santa Fe match, which saw CF improve to 2-1 on the year against its Mid-Florida Conference rival, Jasmyn Perry (18 kills) and Mikayla Gillespie (13 kills) were also key to victory.

Perry, a sophomore from Tampa, ended her CF career with three, double-digit kill matches in the tournament. The 18 kills by Perry were a career-high at CF, one more than her previous career high.

Another sophomore, Marina Adami dished out 159 assists in four matches and ended her career with a school record 3,002 over her two seasons at CF.

Adami finished her career with the Patriots as the school's single-season and single-match assist record holder, aside from her all-time career assist mark.

At libero, Yara Rodriguez had 81 digs, including a season-high 31 in the win over Santa Fe.
