CF Volleyball drops St. Johns River is straight sets

OCALA--The College of Central Florida volleyball team clinched at least a tie for its fourth straight Mid-Florida Conference championship with a 25-15, 25-21, 25-19 rout of St. Johns River on Tuesday night at Patriot Gym.

CF (25-6, 8-1) will now turn its attention to rival Santa Fe at home on Thursday night at 7 p.m., as it tries to clinch the MFC title outright.

The Patriots, who won in five sets in their first-ever meeting with the Saints earlier this month, dominated from start to finish on Tuesday in rout of the Vikings.

CF totaled 45 kills and committed just nine errors in the win. Marina Adami led the Patriots with 39 assists.

Now, CF will turn its attention to SFC and if it can knock off the Saints again, it would clinch the conference's No. 1 seed for the upcoming FCSAA/NJCAA Region VIII Tournament in Jacksonville.

A loss by the Patriots and they would be co-conference champions with Santa Fe and the seeding for the state tournament would be sorted out from the MFC's bylaws.

The MFC champion faces the No. 3 team from the MFC in the opening round of the state tournament, while the MFC runner-up will face the Suncoast Conference champion.
