CF Volleyball downs FSC-Jacksonville in three

JACKSONVILLE- The College of Central Florida volleyball team avenged its only defeat in Mid-Florida Conference play in dominant fashion on Thursday night.

The Patriots won their seventh straight match and fourth on the road in conference play over the past 10 days with a 25-19, 28-26, 25-14 win over FSC-Jacksonville.

With the win, CF (21-5, 7-1) took over sole possession of first place in the conference, one game up on Santa Fe and FSC-J with two games left in MFC play.

SFC downed Daytona State in five sets on Thursday to stay within striking distance of CF.

The Patriots, who host St. Johns River and Santa Fe next week, were led by reigning national player of the week Julymar Otero. Otero, a three-time state player of the week this season, finished with 17 kills and 10 digs, while Jasmyn Perry finished with 11 kills.

Yara Rodriguez continued her strong defensive play with 15 digs.

CF will compete in FSC-J's Tournament of Champions today and Saturday agaist No. 1 Iowa Western, No. 12 Monroe College, Johnson City Community College and Northeastern Community College.
