OCALA, Fla. (October 16, 2014) - For the first time in school history, the College of Central Florida volleyball program can celebrate having a player earn NJCAA National Player of the Week.

Sparked by consecutive record-setting performances for kills in a single match, Julymar Otero has been honored as the national player of the week by the NJCAA.

Otero, a three-time FCSAA player of the week, totaled 27 kills in a win over Santa Fe College, which surpassed the previous school record by two.

From there, she easily surpassed her own record with a 32-kill performance in a win over Daytona State College.

Led by Otero, the Patriots have won six straight games.

She is the only player in school history to win FCSAA player of the week in volleyball three times in one season.

Otero and the Patriots will try to avenge their only loss ever in Mid-Florida Conference play when they travel to FSC-Jacksonville tonight at 7 p.m.
