ATLANTA, Ga. (November 21, 2015) - The Indian River State College men's and women's swimming and diving teams competed at the Georgia Tech Swimming and Diving Invitational and, in the process, broke six NJCAA records. 

Competing against some of the nation's top swimming and diving programs, Indian River State came away with a seven-place finish (out of 18) on the women's side while the men finished fourth (out of 11). 

Day 1 of competition started off with two NJCAA records for the IRSC women. The 200 free relay team of Tayla Lovemore, Osianna McReed, Yasmine Ware, and Leah Sims posted a time of 1:32.78, breaking the NJCAA national record. The lead off leg by Lovemore was also good for a 50 freestyle national record with a time of 22.52.

The men's relay secured a 5th place finish in the same event.

Top individual scorers for the night in the 500 freestyle were Madisyn Lyons (29th) and Hannah Lynch (30th). For the men, it was Jason Van Der Touw (8th), Matt Nielsen (15th), and Alex Berggren (25th). In the 200 IM it was Tayla Lovemore (19th), Christina Loh (26th), and for the men, Joel Hansson (19th), Rawley Davis (21st), Andrew Wojcik (22nd), Cameron Newton (26th), and Serginni Marten (30th).  In the 50 freestyle, the top women's performance came from Osianna McReed (24th), and for the men it was Craig Emslie (5th), John Fauteux (10th), Gavin Erdmann (15th), and Paul Tobin (25th). Top performance in the women's 1m diving came from Adrianna Warning with a 42nd place showing, while the men saw Robbie Costine take the 22nd spot. In the final event of the evening, IRSC's 400 medley relays placed 6th for the women and 5th for the men.

Day 2 of competition again started off with a new NJCAA record, this time in the women's 200 medley relay. The team of Lovemore, Christina Loh, Ware, and McReed broke the record with a time of 1:42.09 taking the 6th spot, while the men's team again took the 5th place finish. Individual scorers were Olivia Jacobi (26th), Madisyn Lyons (29th), and Grace Lynch (30th) in the 400 IM, and for the men it was Jacob Andrasco (22nd). For the 100 butterfly, scorers included Tayla Lovemore (3rd), Yasmine Ware (30th), Nick Loomis (17th), and Rawley Davis (21st). In the 200 freestyle, Jason Van Der Touw took 5th, John Fauteux (8th ), Cameron Newton (18th), Matt Nielsen (21st), Alex Berggren (27th), and Gavin Erdmann (28th).

River sophomores Christina Loh and Craig Emslie would be the highlight of the day when they each broke the NJCAA national record in the women's 100 breaststroke with a time of 1:03.20 (4th) and 52.77 (3rd) respectively. Both times are amongst the leading times in the nation in all NCAA divisions.

Other scorers in the breaststroke included Lauren Meyrick (28th), Joel Hansson (9th), Serginni Marten (12th), Andrew Wojcik (14th), Matt Ankerholz (17th), Jonas Olczyk (24th), and Rawley Davis (30th). In the final individual swimming event Tayla Lovemore earned 20th in the 100 backstroke, while Harrison Howerton earned 16th, and Nick Loomis earned 24th for the men.

The divers also had a good showing with Adrianna Warning placing 43rd in the 3m event, while in the men's 1m, Robbie Costine placed 21st, Sam Hunt placed 25th, and Robert Morgan 26th.

Indian River State ended the night with the 800 freestyle relay teams placing 10th for the women, and 4th for the men.

On the final day of competition, River swimmers competed in the 1650 freestyle with Madisyn Lyons taking 17th. For the men, Matt Nielsen placed 14th, and Alex Berggren placed 16th. Other individual scorers were Harrison Howerton (12th) in the 200 back. In the 100 free, Craig Emslie (3rd), John Fauteux 10th), and Gavin Erdmann (18th) all placed. The 200 breaststroke saw Christina Loh break another NJCAA national record with a time of 1:13.27 placing 3rd. For the men, it was Matt Ankerholz ((9th), Joel Hansson (11th), Serginni Marten (13th), Andrew Wojcik (15th), and Jonas Olczyk (24th). In the final individual event of the meet, the 200 butterfly, the men had Jason Van Der Touw (14th), and Rawley Davis (15th).

The final event of the competition had Indian River State swimmers in the 400 free relay earning 8th for the women and 5th for the men.
