CHARLOTTE, N.C. - The NJCAA announced its first Weekly Award winners of the 2023-24 season on Wednesday and Polk State College's Lovelie Pierre was named the Division I Women's Soccer Player of the Week.

A sophomore forward from Haiti, Pierre has had a red-hot start to the 2023 season.

She scored the lone goal for the Eagles in Monday night's 1-0 victory over Webber International University JV.

Through three matches, Pierre has scored eight goals. Pierre has scored goals in all three of Polk State's contests, including a program record-tying five in Saturday's 7-1 victory over Pasco-Hernando State College.

Pierre's knack for the big-time goal is nothing new. As a freshman in 2022, Pierre finished with six match-winning goals, including winners to beat then No. 1 Eastern Florida State College in overtime and Daytona State College in the Region 8 Championship.

After finishing with 16 goals and 40 total points last season, Pierre entered the week tied for the national lead in goals and points (14). A leader on and off the pitch, Pierre is a member of the program's leadership council.

"Lovelie is an incredible talent and it's great to see her hard work recognized," Head Coach Dee Shivraman said. "She gives 100% every time she steps on the pitch, works hard in the classroom, sets a great example for her teammates and is an outstanding representative for our program."
