MELBOURNE, Fla. (September 7, 2016) - The Eastern Florida State College women's soccer team is the No. 1 team in both the NCSAA and the NJCAA Division I Women's Soccer Polls this week.

The Titans, who are 3-0 on the season, have been tested early and despite some injuries, have found ways to post wins against some of the top teams, defeating both No. 4 Butler Community College and No. 17 Johnson County Community College this season.

Freshmen have led the way for the Titans as Nathali Da Silva already has three goals while Darien Davis has two goals and three assists and Noreen Eriksen has two goals and an assist.

"We have a lot of different attacking players that can score," Eastern Florida State College women's soccer coach Jeff Carr said. "We are fortunate that we can spread the wealth a bit."

They will need a balanced attack this week as they open the Region 8 conference season on Thursday, traveling to Broward College for a 6 p.m. matchup.

"They are vastly improved, (Broward coach) Mike (Goodrich) does a great job with that program. They are so much better than they were last year," Carr said. "It is going to be a tough game on turf at their place. We are going to have to be ready to play."

They will return to Titan Sports Complex on Sept. 23, hosting No. 10 Darton State at 6 p.m. The Titans will also travel to Wyoming in October to face No. 6 Laramie County Community College.

Meanwhile, in the NJCAA Division I Men's Soccer Poll, Eastern Florida State slipped ten spots to No. 13 after a 2-2 start to the season.
