Seminole State women's golf wins Region VIII title

The Seminole State College women's golf team captured the Region VIII Championship Tournament Sunday at Rockledge Country Club.

The Raiders shot a final round 294 to win the title with a 591. Daytona State College finished second after shooting a 298 in the final round and finished at 603. Both teams have qualified for the NJCAA Division I National Tournament which will be played at LPGA International in Daytona Beach on May 13-16.

Seminole State's Worapitcha Anudit won the individual title shooting a 2-under 69 in the first round and then a 1-under 70 in the final round for a 139. Daytona State College's Jessica Bailey finished second with a two-day score of 145.

Seminole State's Alex Giles was third with a 147. Dayton State's Hollie Muse (148) and Eastern Florida State College's Kacey Walker (149) rounded out the top five.

Daytona State College enters the national championship as the defending champions, beating Seminole State College for the title. Anudit finished tied for third in last year's national championship tournament.
