Santa Fe's Aleisha Curry named NJCAA Player of the Week

CHARLOTTE, N.C. (January 5, 2022) - For the second time this season, Santa Fe College's Aleisha Curry has been named the Division I Women's Basketball Player of the Week by the National Junior College Athletic Association.

Curry, a sophomore center from Lehigh Acres, Fla., averaged 15.5 points, 12.8 rebounds, 2.0 assists, 1.5 steals and 1.0 block over four games between December 13 and January 2. 

She shot 63.6 percent (21-of-33) from the floor and 69.0 percent (20-of-29) from the free throw line while helping Santa Fe to a split of its four contests. 

Curry posted a double-double in each of the four games, which included wins over Region 8 foes Tallahassee Community College and Miami Dade College. In her final contest of the period, she had 15 points and 14 rebounds against nationally-ranked Florida SouthWestern State College.

In addition to her two NJCAA honors, Curry has been recognized as the NJCAA Region 8 Player of the Week three times this season.
