Chipola's Courtajia Sanders named NJCAA Women's Basketball Player of the Week

CHARLOTTE, N.C. (November 28, 2018) - Chipola College's Courtajia Sanders was named NJCAA Division I Women's Basketball Player of the Week on Wednesday.

Sanders, a sophomore forward from Bartow, Fla., averaged 22.5 points, 5.8 rebounds, 1.8 assists, 2.5 steals and 0.8 blocks (in 35.0 minutes per game) in four games during the voting period. 

She shot 54.3 percent (38-of-70) from the floor and 73.7 percent (14-of-19) from the free throw line. 

Sanders led the NJCAA No. 7 Indians to four road victories against Region 8 competition - Central Florida, Palm Beach State, Broward and Hillsborough. 

She had 27 points and eight rebounds in the first game of the road swing at Central Florida, but her best game of the week came in the Indians’ shootout with Broward when she scored 31 points on 13-of-22 shooting. 

Sanders was named NJCAA Region 8 Player of the Week on Tuesday.
