Gulf Coast's Alexus Dye named NJCAA Women's Basketball Player of the Week

CHARLOTTE, N.C. (January 9, 2019) - Gulf Coast State College's Alexus Dye was named NJCAA Division I Women's Basketball Player of the Week on Wednesday.

Dye, a sophomore forward from Birmingham, Ala., artow, Fla., averaged 23.5 points, 15.5 rebounds, 0.5 steals and 2.5 blocks in two games during the voting period. She shot 72.0 percent (18-of-25) from the floor and 57.9 percent (11-of-19) from the free throw line. 

Dye led Gulf Coast State to two road wins over ranked opponents last week. 

She had 15 points and eight rebounds in the Commodores’ neutral-site win over No. 12 Shelton (Ala.) State Community College then delivered a 32-point, 23-rebound effort in a double-overtime victory at No. 3 Tallahassee Community College.

Dye was named NJCAA Region 8 Player of the Week on Tuesday.
