FSCJ's Robinson named NJCAA Player of the Week

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (December 14, 2016) - Florida State College at Jacksonville's Malaysia Robinson has been named Division I Women's Basketball Player of the Week by the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA).

Robinson, a sophomore guard from Pahokee, Fla., averaged 29.0 points, 5.0 rebounds, 7.0 assists and 4.5 steals in two games during the voting period. 

She shot 55.3 percent (21-of-38) from the floor, 56.3 percent (9-of-16) from the three-point line and 87.5 percent (7-of-8) from the free throw line. 

Robinson led Florida State College to wins against Florida SouthWestern and Indian River State. In the 90-49 win over Florida SouthWestern, she scored 37 points on 13-of-23 shooting and 6-of-9 three-pointers – she also had five rebounds, six assists and four steals. She followed that with a 21-point, five-rebound, eight-assist, five-steal effort vs. Indian River State. 

Robinson entered play this week as the fifth-leading scorer in Region 8. 

Robinson is the second women's player of the week recipient from Region 8 this season. Chipola College's Raven Baker-Northcross received the honor on November 23.
