Gulf Coast State's Kristina King named WBCA Player of the Year

ATLANTA, Ga. (March 15, 2016) - Gulf Coast State College's Kristina King was named WBCA Junior/Community College Player of the Year on Tuesday.

King, a 6-foot-3 sophomore forward from Mebane, N.C., was previously named Panhandle Conference Player of the Year, FCSAA State Player of the Year and Most Valuable Player of the NJCAA District/FCSAA State Tournament, where she led Gulf Coast State to the tournament championship and automatic berth in the NJCAA Division I Women's Basketball Championship in Lubbock, Texas. 

In 30 games, including Tuesday's second round victory over Georgia Highlands College at the national tournament, King has averaged 19.1 points, 8.7 rebounds and 1.4 assists while shooting 55.0 percent from the field. 

King was one of four players from Region 8 named to the WBCA's All-America team. Joining her were Gulf Coast State teammate Audrey-Ann Caron-Goudreau, Miami Dade College's Nachalie Dejesus and Florida State College at Jacksonville's De'Angela Mathis.
