CLERMONT, Fla. (May 8, 2023) - Riley Gibson's walk-off single gave Northwest Florida State College, a 7-6, come-from-behind victory over Indian River State College in Monday's NJCAA South Atlantic District B Championship Game.

The win also punched the Raiders' ticket to Oxford, Ala., and the NJCAA Division I Softball Championships later this month.

Following a familiar script, all three of Northwest Florida State's tournament wins came by way of scoring in its final at-bat, and Monday was the second walk-off win. The Raiders walked-off against Hillsborough Community College in Friday's opening round game.

The stakes were much higher, and the circumstances much more dire on Monday. A four-run fifth inning by Indian River State broke a 2-all tie and gave the Pioneers a 6-2 lead.

The Raiders almost erased the deficit in its next at-bat. They scored three runs to pull within 6-5 and needed just two batters to tie the game in the seventh.

With runners on first and second and just one out, Gibson singled down the right field line, scoring Layla Thompson with the winning run.

Gibson finished 3-for-4 with two RBI in the game.

Allison Brunson pitched five innings over two different stints to earn the win, her third of the tournament, and a spot on the FCSAA All-Tournament Team, along with teammates Sydney Stewart, Abigail Pippen and Thompson.

Alina Varga, Raelyn Rowland and Adrianna Portanova made the All-Tournament Team from Indian River State.

Other All-Tournament team selections included: Shenita Tucker, Florida SouthWestern; Lea Chevrier, Florida SouthWestern; Megan Loftis, Central Florida; Lindsay Corazzini, Seminole State; Bre'Asia Thomas, Pensacola State; Lydia Drake, Pensacola State; Belle Sardja, Florida SouthWestern; and Feline Poot, Florida SouthWestern.
