CHARLOTTE, N.C. (April 6, 2022) - The National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) announced its Player of the Week awards on Wednesday and Tallahassee Community College's Brittany Michaels was named Division I Softball Pitcher of the Week.
Michael, a freshman righty from Fleming Island, Fla., appeared in two games last week and was 1-0 with one save and a 0.00 ERA.
She saw action in both games of the Eagles' doubleheader against NJCAA #15 Gulf Coast State College.
In game one, she tossed a three-hit shutout (with 8 strikeouts) in a 4-0 victory. In game two, she recorded the final five outs to notch the save and preserve Tallahassee's 1-0 victory.
Combined, she threw 8.2 innings in the circle, allowed four hits, no runs and three walks, and struck out nine.
She is Tallahassee's first Pitcher of the Week recipient since Alex Cook in 2015.
Michael, on Tuesday, was named NJCAA Region 8 Softball Pitcher of the Week.
