ST. GEORGE, Utah (May 21, 2018) - Chipola College fought its way through the loser's bracket before falling to Temple (Texas) College, 6-1, in the championship game of the NJCAA Division I Softball Tournament.

The No. 2 seed Indians opened tournament play with a 15-0 win over (15) Central Alabama Community College but dropped their next game to Eastern Arizona College, 4-3 in eight innings to fall into the loser's bracket.

Chipola responded with six straight wins, including a 3-0 triumph over top-seed, top-ranked and FCSAA State Champion Florida SouthWestern, and a 2-0 win over Temple that forced a winner-take-all game with the Leopards.

The Indians' remarkable season ended with a 56-4 record.

Florida SouthWestern won its first two games in the tournament before dropping consecutive games on Friday to finish with a record of 53-5.

Chipola placed four players on the all-tournament team - Candela Figueroa, Krystal Goodman, Alexis Grampp and Barbara Woll, who was named the tournament's Most Outstanding Defensive Player. Florida SouthWestern's Paris Woods also made the all-tournament team.
