ST. GEORGE, Utah (May 12, 2015) - Seeding and opening round match-ups have been released for the NJCAA Division I Softball Championship in St. George, Utah.

Region 8 has two participants in the 16-team field - FCSAA state champion Chipola College (44-10), the tournament's No. 3 seed, and FCSAA runners-up and No. 10 seed Miami Dade College (32-19).

Both teams will open play in the 6:30 p.m. round of games at St. George's Canyons Complex on Wednesday, May 13. Chipola will face No. 14 seed Shelton State (Ala.) Community College while Miami Dade takes on No. 7 seed Temple (Texas) College. 

Should both teams win its first two games, they would meet in a winner's bracket semifinal at noon, Friday, May 15. 

Both teams are guaranteed a second-game in the double elimination event. A win in the first round means a 5 p.m. game on Thursday, May 14 while an opening round loss would send the Indians and Sharks into Thursday's 2:30 p.m. round.

NOTE: St. George, Utah, is located in the mountain time zone.

At the recent FCSAA State Softball Tournament, Chipola handed Miami Dade both of its tournament losses, including a 3-2 decision in the championship game.
