Indian River State College competes at FIU Sprint Invitational

FT. PIERCE, Fla. (January 3, 2016) - The Indian River State College men's and women's swimming and diving teams returned to action for the second half of the season when they competed in the Florida International University Sprint Invitational in Miami.

Nine teams from around the country, that included NCAA D1, D2, and D3 universities, were all in Miami for their annual holiday training trip and met at the campus of FIU for the contest.

Indian River State came away with a 4th place overall finish in the women's competition, winning six of the 15 events contested.

Leading the way for the team was Tayla Lovemore (1st in the 50 fly and 50 free) and Christina Loh (1st in the 50 and 100 breast). The women's 200 medley relay (Tayla Lovemore, Christina Loh, Yasmine Ware, Osianna McReed) and the 200 freestyle relay (Tayla Lovemore, Yasmine Ware, Osianna McReed, Leah Sims) also secured victories.

On the men's side of the competition, Indian River State came away with a 2nd place showing winning one of the 15 events. The lone event winner was Craig Emslie in the 50 breast.

Indian River State returns to action Friday, January 8 at the University of Tampa.
