EFSC men's soccer team beats Daytona State in overtime for Region 8 title

Danilo Orsi Dadomo made sure that his season would not end in the Region 8 Final this season.

The sophomore took a nice pass from Chaim Roserie one minute and 14 seconds into overtime, took a quick dribble around a defender and hit a shot past Daytona State goalkeeper Phil D'Amico, giving the Titans a 2-1 win and sending them to the Southeast District Tournament Nov. 3-4 at a site to be determined.

"It is special. It was great to get the goal early too," Orsi Dadomo said. "I didn't think it was going to come but we kept grinding away. I said to the boys before the game, if we work hard, we are better than them technically but we have to match their desire and passion and tonight we did that and it showed."

Daytona State College struck first after a penalty was called in the box, giving the Falcons a penalty kick just over 10 minutes into the match.

From there it was all Titans but D'Amico played well for Daytona, stopping numerous shots and the Titans had three go off the post as the score remained 1-0 well into the second half.

With 5:41 left in regulation the Titans had a corner kick and a foul was called in the box giving Eastern Florida State a penalty kick.

Roserie knocked it past D'Amico to tie the match 1-1.

"It was a tough game, we started a little slow and all the credit to Daytona, they are a fantastic team, well coached and it felt like it was going to be one of those nights where we just couldn't score. They defended so well," Eastern Florida State College men's soccer coach Oliver Twelvetrees said. "We just kept going and we showed that big heart. That is a moment that will live with these players forever, a really special moment and I am just really proud of these guys."

The Titans improved to 11-2 on the season and will play next weekend in the Southeast District Tournament with the winner punching a ticket to the NJCAA Division I National Championship Tournament in Arizona.
