MELBOURNE, Fla. (December 2, 2014) - Eastern Florida State College’s men’s soccer team landed its second NJCAA Division I first-team All-America on Tuesday with the selection of sophomore Kyle Carr.

Kyle Carr

Carr, of Indialantic, Fla., was a member of Eastern Florida State’s back line which also placed sophomore and 2013 first-team All America Ivan Magalhaes on this year’s All-America second-team.

Eastern Florida State, in its second year as a program, finished the season at 13-3-1.

The Titans earned their second straight postseason bid, losing in the district final, one game away from the national tournament, which they reached in 2013.

The Titans scored 70 goals this past season while allowing only 17.

Carr notched three assists for the season while Magalhaes scored six goals and recorded two assists.

Ivan Magalhaes

Carr graduated from Melbourne High and transferred to Eastern Florida State from Taylor University in Upland, Ind.

Magalhaes, a native of Sao Paolo, Brazil, played two seasons for Eastern Florida State.

“Kyle Carr played every bit of every game and was a leader on and off the field,” said Eastern Florida State head coach Oliver Twelvetrees. “The award is well deserved. Kyle has a big future moving forward.

“I’m proud of Ivan being a two-time All-America. A phenomenal achievement from an excellent student-athlete.”
