EFSC men's golf team wins Titan Winter Invitational

MELBOURNE, Fla. (February 7, 2017) - The Eastern Florida State College men's golf team made sure nobody was catching them Tuesday, shooting a 289 as a team to clinch the Titan Winter Invitational at Suntree Country Club.

The Titans held up the trophy for the first time since 2012 and it was a team effort as Tyler Bennett shot a 70, Fraser Davren had a 72, Ryan Rozic finished with a 73 and Brad Bawden and Michael Stewart each had a 74 in the final round.

"It feels great. It's awesome to bring it home, especially on my home course and a course a lot of us know well," Rozic said. "Coach prepared us well and it was a lot of fun. We just took care of business, it was a great day. We played our game and didn't let the pressure get to us."

Eight players had rounds under par on the final day, three of them were Titans including Mathieu Echelard who recorded three straight rounds under par to grab the individual title, shooting a 212 for the tournament.

"It's a very good three rounds, last week I played at Suntree and did not play like this. It was a good three rounds," Echelard said.

Eastern Florida State College will travel to Fairhope, Alabama for the Elizabeth Kling Memorial Invitational Feb. 18-19.
