BREVARD COUNTY, Fla. (November 6, 2014) - Eastern Florida’s golf team wraps up its fall schedule at Monday and Tuesday’s NJCAA District 4 Preview at Willow Point Golf Club in Alexander City, Alabama.
EFSC will be represented by freshmen Mickey DeMorat, Kerry
Sweeney, Corey Herman and sophomores Brad Gray and Drew Cooke.
The goal for the tournament is simple, said Eastern Florida head
coach Jamie Howell: “Win"
“We will need to play well as Willow Point is an awesome
golf course that rewards good play and penalizes poor play,”
Howell said.
“A win would definitely be a success, but we are arriving
with a new line-up with Corey Herman playing in the number five
slot. He is competitive and game but this will be his first
collegiate event as a member of the top five traveling.
“Success for him may be not getting caught in the headlights
and success for the team would include competing for a title right
down to the wire.”
Howell also sees the bigger picture.
“You always like to finish on a good note,” he said.
“At the same time this event will be a catalyst for the
remainder of our fall practices as well as preparing for the
District Championship in April.”
Howell expects the main competition to come from Central Alabama,
which is playing on its par 72, 7,100-yard home course, Wallace
State and Darton State.
Eastern Florida has finished second in all three of its tournaments this fall and defeated Florida Tech in their head-to-head Collegiate Players Cup competition.
