Indian River State's Moutaouakkil named NJCAA Player of the Week

CHARLOTTE, N.C. - The NJCAA announced its weekly award winners on Wednesday and Indian River State College's Mostapha El Moutaouakkil was named Division I Men's Basketball Player of the Week.

Moutaouakkill, a sophomore guard from Rabat, Morocco, averaged 30.7 points, 6.3 rebounds, 3.3 assists and 3.0 steals in three games. 

In games against Time 2 Ball Prep, Spartanburg (S.C.) Methodist College and Caldwell (S.C.) Technical College, he shot 60.0 percent (30-of-50) from the field, hit 2-of-8 (25.0 percent) three-point attempts and shot 75.0 percent (30-of-40) from the free throw line. 

Moutaouakkill led Indian River State to a 3-0 week, including two wins at the Spartanburg Methodist College Classic. 

In his final game of the week vs. Caldwell Tech, he scored a career-high 58 points on 18-of-28 shooting from the field and 20-of-24 from the line. Moutaouakkill also recorded seven rebounds, seven assists and five steals. 

Moutaouakkill was named NJCAA Region 8 Division I Player of the Week on Tuesday.
