Men's All-FCSAA/NJCAA All-Region 8 Team announced; Indian River's Woodard voted Player of the Year

NICEVILLE, Fla. (March 9, 2023) – The Florida College System Activities Association announced its All-FCSAA/All-NJCAA Region 8 men's basketball team on Thursday evening.

Headlining the 12-member team is FCSAA Men's Basketball Player of the Year, Jayshayne Woodard of Indian River State College

Woodard, a guard from Harlem, N.Y., is the only freshman on the 12-member team, and is the third straight Pioneer to be named Player of the Year, following Linton Brown (2021) and A.J. Cajuste (2022). Dating back to 1981, Chipola College (2007-09) is the only other school to accomplish the feat. 

The FCSAA Player of the Year is voted on by members of the FCSAA Men's Basketball Committee. 

Woodard, the Southern Conference Player of the Year, is Region 8's leading rebounder (11.9 rpg) and also ranks eighth in assists (3.6 apg) and sixth in steals (1.9 spg). He averaged 15.0 points per game, which places him 11th in Region 8 and shot 53.8 percent from the field, 41.1 percent from three, and 72.6 percent from the free throw line. He was named Region 8 Player of the Week on November 22 and February 7.

Appeared in 29 games...only player in Region 8 to rank in the top ten in both scoring (17.0 ppg, 7th) and rebounds (9.9 rpg, 2nd)...also averaged 1.2 assists, 1.1 steals and 0.8 blocks...shot 59.0 percent from the floor, fifth-best in Region 8, and 61.7 percent from the free throw line...named Region 8 Player of the Week honors on January 10 and was selected as NJCAA Division I Player of the Week the following day.

Jacob Crews, Daytona State
Sophomore | Forward | Hilliard, Fla.

The Central Conference Player of the Year...appeared in 29 games...tied for the Region 8 lead in scoring at 20.1 points per game...also led the Region in free throw percentage (88.6)...averaged 6.9 rebounds, 1.3 assists, 1.1 steals and 1.1 blocks...shot 49.3 percent from the field and 38.3 percent from three...a two-time Region 8 Player of the Week.

Bradley Douglas, Florida SouthWestern
Sophomore | Guard | Eustis, Fla.

Appeared in 24 games...averaged 14.2 points, 3.1 rebounds, 3.1 assists and 1.0 steal...shot 46.7 percent from the field, 33.6 percent from three and 68.1 percent from the free throw line...the lone two-time All-FCSAA honoree.

Chase Forte, Gulf Coast State
Sophomore | Guard | Raleigh, N.C.

Appeared in 28 games...tied for the Region 8 lead in scoring at 20.1 points per game and led the Region with 2.8 steals per game...also second in assists (5.8 apg) and is the only player in Region 8 to rank in the top five in three different categories...shot 44.4 percent from the field, 31.8 percent from three and 61.4 percent from the free throw line.

Zondrick Garrett, Jr., Pensacola State
Sophomore | Forward | Oxford, Ala.

Appeared in 29 games...averaged 12.3 points, 6.2 rebounds, 0.9 assists, 0.7 steals and 0.9 blocks...shot 52.3 percent from the field, 39.2 percent from three and 70.0 percent from the free throw line.

Ametri Moss, State College of Florida
Sophomore | Guard | Clarksville, Tenn.

Appeared in 22 games...averaged 10.2 points, 3.9 rebounds, 2.7 assists, 1.3 steals and 0.4 blocks...shot 46.3 percent from the field, 37.5 percent from three and 85.7 percent from the free throw line.

Addison Patterson, Tallahassee
Sophomore | Guard | Mississauga, ONT, Canada

Appeared in 29 games...ranks fifth in Region 8 in scoring at 19.3 points per game and third in steals (2.3 spg)...also averaged 5.2 rebounds, 3.4 assists and 0.7 blocks...shot 52.8 percent from the field, 30.1 percent from three and 71.6 percent from the free throw line...two-time Region 8 Player of the Week and was named NJCAA Division I Player of the Week on January 17.

George Pridgett, Polk State
Sophomore | Guard | Boston, Mass.

Appeared in 27 games...fourth-leading scorer in Region 8 at 19.6 points per game...ranks fourth in three-point field goal percentage (41.1) and is sixth in steals (1.9 spg)...also averaged 2.6 rebounds and 2.9 assists...shot 42.2 percent overall from the field and 75.4 percent from the free throw line.

Kasean Pryor, Northwest Florida State
Sophomore | Forward | Chicago, Ill.

The Panhandle Conference Player of the Year…averaged 14.7 points and ranked fifth in Region 8 with 8.5 rebounds per game...also averaged 1.7 assists, 1.9 steals and 1.3 blocks...shot 45.0 percent from the field, 35.0 percent from three and 78.8 percent from the free throw line...was named Region 8 Player of the Week on November 8.

Jalen Speer, Santa Fe
Sophomore | Guard | Gainesville, Fla.

Appeared in 28 games...leads Region 8 in assists with 6.4 per game, ranks sixth in scoring at 17.3 points per game and was number four in free throw percentage (83.3)...also averaged 4.6 rebounds and 0.8 steals...shot 42.1 percent from the field and 29.9 percent from three.

Jadrian Tracey, Florida SouthWestern
Sophomore | Guard | Fort Myers, Fla.

Appeared in 28 games...was Region 8's leader in three-point field goal percentage (43.1)...averaged 14.3 points, 5.8 rebounds, 2.9 assists and 1.7 steals...also shot 44.1 percent overall from the field and 77.7 percent from the free throw line...a two-time Region 8 Player of the Week and was named NJCAA Division I Player of the Week on February 21.
