LAKE CITY, Fla. (February 26, 2022) - Florida Gateway College overcame a first-half deficit and defeated Pasco-Hernando State College, 84-67, to claim the Region 8 Division II Men's Basketball Championship.

The Timberwolves (16-9) will move in the South Atlantic District B Championship Game on Saturday, March 5 at Fayetteville (N.C.) Technical Community College, with the winner earning a berth to the NJCAA DII Men's Basketball Championships.

Fayetteville Tech, a member of NJCAA Region 10, lost the South Atlantic District A Championship Game to Davidson-Davie (N.C.) Community College.

Florida Gateway and Pasco-Hernando State met six times during the regular season to determine who would host the winner-take-all championship tilt. After dropping the first head-to-head meeting, Florida Gateway won the next five and the right to play on its home floor for the region championship.

Nevertheless, it was the Bobcats who controlled the first half, ending with a 40-35 lead as the teams went to the locker room.

The second 20 minutes, however, belonged to Florida Gateway, as it outscored Pasco-Hernando State, 49-27, after intermission.
