HIALEAH, FL – Freshman guard Sebastien Jean scored 14 points grabbed 11 rebounds and totaled 10 assists to record the second-ever triple-double in ASA Miami men's basketball history while freshman center Malik Brikat extended his program-record double-double total to five on the year with a game-high 26 points and 15 rebounds to lead the Silver Storm to an 86-82 home victory over Miami Dade College Saturday night at The Dent.

While Jean had already etched his name in the ASA Miami record books Saturday with his overall performance, it was his 11th rebound that resounded the most as it essentially sealed the game for ASA.

Leading 84-82 with five seconds remaining after Miami Dade had made one free throw with another coming, Jean was able to secure the Sharks' intentionally missed free throw – preventing Miami Dade from regaining possession and possibly tying or winning the game – and was fouled. Jean then went to the free throw line himself and calmly knocked down a pair to give the Silver Storm the four-point cushion and cement the team's fifth-straight victory – also a program record.

Within the five straight wins, ASA Miami has also set a program record for most consecutive Southern Conference (SOCON) wins with four. Saturday's victory also moved the Silver Storm (10-18, 5-5 SOCON) into second place in the conference standings ahead of Indian River State College (18-9, 4-5), who ASA Miami will play this coming Wednesday (Feb. 20). The top two teams from each conference advance to the state tournament and the Silver Storm can clinch their first-ever spot in the postseason tourney if they knock off Indian River when the two meet this week.

ASA Miami head coach Jean Dubuisson said that his team has really bought into and has rallied around the fact that they control their own destiny.

"From the game where Matt [Maturah] hit the game-winner to beat Indian River, our mindset has been 'playoff mode'," Dubuisson said. "I told the guys that if we win out, we control our own destiny and I think they bought in and everything started coming together for us as a team…plus we've been getting some great performances from guys, especially [Sebastien] Jean. This has been like his coming out party."

Including Saturday's win, Jean has averaged 14.5 points, 9.4 rebounds and 6.6 assists over the past five games and only amassed eight turnovers in his 159 minutes played.

Brikat's 26 points Saturday was a career-best and it came on a season-high 63 percent shooting (minimum 5 shots). Marko Jovanovic added 13 points and five boards while freshman Jaryn McCann contributed 12 points, four rebounds, two assists, and two steals.

Defeating Miami Dade was no easy task, however.

The Silver Storm, who had fallen to the Sharks in the previous two matchups this season, trailed by as many as 15 in the first half before cutting the deficit to 41-31 at the halftime buzzer. Sharks guard Montese Blake shot 4-of-6 from three-point range and totaled 18 points through the first 20 minutes. ASA Miami got back into the game by outscoring Miami Dade 19-9 in the first six minutes of the second half and only trailed at one other time (58-56 at the 10:19 mark) during the second half before taking the lead for good. It also helped that the Silver Storm put clamps on Blake, holding the Sharks' guard scoreless in the second half until the final three minutes of the game and he didn't hit another three-pointer after the first half.

ASA's lead grew as large as nine (82-73) by the final 90 seconds of the game before Miami Dade tried to rally.
