Eastern Florida State's Kareem Brewton named NJCAA Basketball Player of the Week

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (January 4, 2017) - Eastern Florida State College's Kareem Brewton was named NJCAA Division I Men's Basketball Player of the Week on Wednesday.

Brewton, a sophomore guard from Claxton, Ga., averaged 20.0 points, 4.0 rebounds, 5.0 assists, 3.5 steals and 0.5 blocks in two games during the voting period. He shot 48.3 percent (14-of-29) from the field and 75.0 percent (12-of-16) from the free throw line.

Brewton helped Eastern Florida State to wins over Atlanta Metro and nationally-ranked Shelton State, scoring 12 points in the Titans’ 36-point win over Atlanta Metro and pouring in 28 points, along with seven rebounds, five assists and four steals in the 84-70 win over No. 21 Shelton State. 

Brewton was named NJCAA Region 8 Men's Basketball Player of the Week earlier this week.

Brewton is the third Region 8 player to receive the award this season, joining Daytona State College's Nashad Mackey (November 16) and Indian River State College's Shaun Willett (December 21).
