Dexter Foster's Triple-Double Too Much For MDC

Kendall, Fla. - Take a deep breath and exhale. Tuesday night's Southern Conference matchup between ASA Miami and Miami Dade College was a track meet with fireworks. The Silver Storm managed to come out on top in the end, 120-112. Of course, that was after they gave up a 21 point lead to the Sharks, who came back to tie the game at 101 a piece with 4:07 left in the game. ASA would finish the game on a 19-11 run and pick up their seventh win of the season. The Silver Storm have now won three of their last four games and improve their conference record to 2-1. Currently, ASA is tied for second place within the Southern Conference.

Several records were set tonight for ASA. The 120 points are the most ASA Miami has ever scored in the programs short history. Tonight marks the first time ASA Miami has defeated Miami Dade College. Sophomore Guard Dextor Foster recorded the school's first triple-double with 15 points, 11 rebounds and 10 assists. The Silver Storm shot 59% from the field and 58% from three-point land, which are both season highs. Alex Thomas finished with 21 points while shooting 8-9 from the field. This was his best offensive output this season. Raven Owen Jrcontinues to make putting the ball in the basket look easy. Owen Jr would finish as the teams leading scorer with 26 points. This makes the second straight game that he scores at least 20 points.

With all the flying three-pointers and offensive statistics that jump out at you right away on the screen, there is one individual who left it all out on the floor. Freshman Laron Fells fouled out of the game with 3:52 remaining but that was after the 6'6 forward grabbed eight rebounds and blocked three shots. Fells appeared to hit his head hard on the floor in the first half. It didn't look like he would return but he showed his toughness and grit boxing out, setting screens and defending on every possession.

The conference schedule continues to heat up when No. 7 Eastern Florida State College comes into town on Saturday, January 14th. Tip-off is set for 4pm at Bucky Dent Gym in Hialeah, Fla.
