Central Florida downs FSC-Jacksonville

JACKSONVILLE- The College of Central Florida men's basketball team bounced back from its loss to Daytona State in a big way this past Saturday afternoon.

CF jumped out to a 40-18 halftime lead and routed FSC-Jacksonville 80-61 on the road.

Miguel Cartagena Reyes led the Patriots with 20 points, aided by 5-of-10 shooting from 3-point range.

Eddy Polanco added 10 points, while Diamonte Lewis and Dwayne Daniel scored eight each for CF.

The Patriots made 10-of-23 from 3-point range and also had a solid rebounding effort by Iseoluwapo Jegede, who grabbed nine rebounds.

CF has lost just once to the Blue Wave over the past five seasons.

The Patriots stayed one game behind Daytona State in the conference standings, while FSC-J fell to 0-3.

The win for CF was a big one after seeing its five-game winning streak snapped by DSC.

Next up for the Patriots is a visit to rival Santa Fe College on Saturday afternoon at 4 p.m. CF has won 17 of 19 games over the Saints, including a 61-56 win in Ocala on January 17.
