Florida Gateway wins NJCAA Women's Flag Championship

ATLANTA, Ga. (May 20, 2023) - Florida Gateway College made headlines in 2021, announcing it would be the first FCSAA member college to pursue women's flag football.

Two years later, the Timberwolves are grabbing the headlines once again. On Saturday, Florida Gateway completed a perfect run through the NJCAA's inaugural women's flag football invitational, defeating Hesston (Kan.) College, 20-0, to claim the NJCAA's championship trophy. 

Florida Gateway went a perfect 5-0 over three days of competition, outscoring its opponents by a cumualtive score of 152-20, including three shutouts against Hesston. 

The Timberwolves pitched shutouts of 27-0 and 33-0 against the Larks prior to Saturday's finale, which was played inside Mercedez-Benz Stadium, home of the NFL's Atlanta Falcons. 

In between its games vs. Hesston, Florida Gateway knocked off Fort Scott (Kan.) Community College, 47-7 and 25-13. 

The Timberwolves finished their inaugural season on the gridiron with a record of 15-1.
