CHARLOTTE, N.C. (May 19, 2023) - The NJCAA released its final Player of the Week awards for the 2022-23 season on Wednesday.

For Division I Baseball, both honorees hailed from the FCSAA Division I Champion College of Central Florida Patriots - Player of the Week Carson Bayne and Pitcher of the Week Brian Holiday. 

Bayne, a sophomore outfielder from Jacksonville, Fla., was named Most Outstanding Player at last weekend's FCSAA Division I/NJCAA South Atlantic District Baseball Championships. 

He batted .455 (5-for-11) with four runs scored, two doubles, two home runs and four RBI in the Patriots' three games. Bayne was particularly impactful in the championship game, going 3-for-4 with two doubles and a key two-run homer that propelled Central Florida to a 7-2 win. 

Holiday, a sophomore right-hander from Tampa, Fla., was named Most Outstanding Pitcher of the tournament. 

In his only appearance, he started and pitched seven shutout innings of three-hit ball in Central Florida's 6-0 win over Miami Dade College. He walked only two and struck out 12.
