NEW PORT RICHEY, Fla. (May 1, 2022) - Florida State College at Jacksonville defeated Pasco-Hernando State College, 9-2, on Sunday to win the NJCAA Division II Region 8 Championship.

With the win, FSCJ advances to the NJCAA Division II South Atlantic District Tournament, where it will face the Region 10 Champion in a best-of-3 series for the right to advance the Division II World Series.

After dropping its first game in the tournament on Thursday, top-seed Pasco-Hernando State won three straight elimination games, including a 13-6 romp against FSCJ on Saturday to force Sunday's "if game" and went to the sixth in a 1-1 game.

That's when FSCJ exploded for five runs to take a 6-1 lead, and the Blue Wave never looked back. The lead eventually grew to 9-1.

Dylan Dudones picked up the win for FSCJ with four innings of two-hit ball.

Offensively, the Blue Wave was led by Barry Eiseman, who was 3-for-5 with a homer and four RBI, and Evan Wickeri, who went 2-for-4 with a solo home run.

The South Atlantic District Championship series begins May 14 at the site of the Region 10 Champion.
