TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (May 23, 2018) – The Florida College System Activities Association (FCSAA) has released its NJCAA Region 8 Baseball Player and Pitcher of the Week selections for games played during the FCSAA Baseball Tournament. 

This is the final weekly baseball awards of 2018.

NJCAA Region 8 Baseball Player of the Week
Max Guzman, Chipola
Sophomore – C
Miami, Fla. 

• Batted .727 (9-for-19) with seven runs scored, one double, one home run and 10 RBIs in six games at the FCSAA Baseball Tournament
• Was named the tournament’s Most Valuable Player
• Hit safely in all six games and was 1-for-2 with a home run and three RBIs in the championship game vs. Hillsborough

NJCAA Region 8 Baseball Pitcher of the Week
Phillip Sanderson, Chipola
Freshman – RHP
Greenville, N.C. 

• 2-0, 0.50 ERA in two appearances at the FCSAA Baseball Tournament
• Had complete-game victories over Santa Fe and Hillsborough, the latter coming in the championship game
• For the tournament, totaled 18 innings and allowed ten hits, one run (earned) and three walks while striking out 15
