Pasco's Faul, Thompson claim NJCAA honors

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo (March 17, 2106) - Two members of Pasco-Hernando State College's baseball team claimed national honors on Wednesday. 

First baseman Michael Faul was named NJCAA Division II Player of the Week and sophomore Tanner Thompson was named NJCAA Division II Pitcher of Week.

Selections were made based on games played March 7-13. 

Faul, a freshman from Washington, Ky., batted .526 (10-for-19) with five runs scored and 10 RBIs in six games during the voting period. 

Pasco-Hernando State was a perfect 6-0 in games in which Faul played and finished the week at 8-0 overall. 

Faul hit safely in five of the six games and finished the week with three consecutive multi-hit games. 

He started the week with two hits and two RBIs vs. Hibbing on March 7. Four days later, he was 2-for-3 with two RBIs in an 8-0 win over Macomb. 

Thompson, a right-handed pitcher, was 2-0, with one save, and  a 0.00 ERA in three appearances during the voting period. 

He picked up the win vs. Hibbing with three innings of work, recorded the save vs. NJCAA (DII) No. 12 Lincoln Land and pitched shutout innings of two-hit ball in a winning effort vs. Macomb.

In 11 total innings of work, he allowed no runs, three hits and three walks while striking out ten. 

Thompson was named NJCAA Region 8/FCSAA Baseball Coaches' Pitcher of the Week on Tuesday.
