COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (October 28, 2015) - Chipola College's women's basketball team ended the 2014-15 season on top. It opens the 2015-16 season in the same position.
The NJCAA Division I Women's Basketball Poll was released on Tuesday and the Indians will open the season as the nation's top-ranked team. One day earlier, Chipola was voted the No. 1 team in the NJCAA Region 8 Women's Basketball Coaches' Poll.
A total of four teams from Region 8 are ranked in the top 12 - Chipola is joined by No. 5 Gulf Coast State College, No. 6 Northwest Florida State College and No. 12 College of Central Florida.
The NJCAA Division I Men's Basketball Poll was also released on Tuesday and three teams from Region 8 find themselves in the rankings.
Defending NJCAA champion Northwest Florida State earned the preseason No. 3 ranking.
Other schools from Region 8 in the poll are No. 16 Palm Beach State College and No. 25 Eastern Florida State College.
Tallahassee Community College received votes.
