NJCAA Region 8 Basketball Notebook: November 24

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (November 24, 2015) – The Florida College System Activities Association (FCSAA) has released its NJCAA Region 8 Men’s and Women’s Basketball Coaches’ Polls for November 24 and Player of the Week selections for the week ending November 22.

The next poll and player of the week selections will be released December 1. The NJCAA’s first regular season polls will be released December 1 (men) and 2 (women).

  • Averaged 13.0 points and 14.5 rebounds in two games
  • Shot 53.3 percent (8-of-15) from the floor, 50.0 percent (2-of-4) on three-pointers and 80.0 percent (8-of-10) from the free throw line
  • Led Daytona State to wins over Region 8 opponents St. Petersburg and Broward
  • Posted double-doubles in each game – 10 points, 14 rebounds vs. St. Petersburg and 16 points, 15 rebounds vs. Broward

NJCAA Region 8 Women’s Basketball Player of the Week
Kristina King, Gulf Coast State
Sophomore – Forward
Mebane, N.C. 

  • Averaged 22.3 points, 6.3 rebounds, 1.7 assists, 2.0 steals and 2.7 blocks in three games
  • Shot 65.9 percent (31-of-47) from the floor and hit 5-of-9 free throws
  • Led Gulf Coast State to a 3-0 record, including a win over NJCAA DII No. 2 Illinois Central
  • Posted 22 points (10-13 FG) and six rebounds in a 100-57 win over Santa Fe. The next day, tallied 26 points, six rebounds, three assists, three steals and three blocks in a 71-51 win over Illinois Central
