MELBOURNE, Fla. (November 7, 2015) - Eastern Florida State College's men's and women's soccer teams have taken the next steps towards a possible national championship.

Thanks to stellar regular seasons, both teams qualified for district tournament play - the women in Picayune, Miss.; the men in Louisburg, N.C.

For the NJCAA top-ranked Eastern Florida State women, they defeated Pearl River (Miss.) Community College, 4-1, to clinch a fourth straight District H title and the accompanying berth to the NJCAA Tournament, which will be played on the Titans' home field in Melbourne.

When the NJCAA Tournament begins November 16, the unbeaten Titans are expected to do so as the No. 1 seed.

For the Titan men, they needed two wins to claim a district championship but only one to lock up a berth in the national tournament.

The latter was accomplished on Friday, thanks to a 3-2 win over Patrick Henry (Va.) Community College that set up showdown with host Louisburg for the district championship.

However, heavy rain forced the cancellation of Saturday's district championship game, and because both teams had already punched tickets to nationals, Eastern Florida State and Louisburg were declared district co-champions

The men's national tournament will begin November 16 at Patrick Henry Community College in Axton, Va.
