COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (January 21, 2016) - As basketball nears the final month of the regular season, Region 8 continues to play a prominent role in the national landscape.

Three teams from Region 8 continue to be ranked in the top six in the NJCAA Division I Women's Basketball Poll. 

Gulf Coast State College leads the trio at No. 2 followed by No. 3 Daytona State College and No. 6 Chipola College. 

Northwest Florida State College slipped one spot to No. 13.

In the NJCAA Division I Men's Basketball Poll, four teams are ranked and a fifth, College of Central Florida, received votes.

The highest-ranked men's team is No. 6 Northwest Florida State, up from No. 8 last week.

Palm Beach State College dropped from sixth to twelfth while Daytona State moved up one spot to No. 14. Eastern Florida State College climbed two spots to No. 19.
