TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (January 19, 2016) – The Florida College System Activities Association (FCSAA) has released its NJCAA Region 8 Men’s and Women’s Basketball Coaches’ Polls for January 19 and Player of the Week selections for the week ending January 17.

The next poll and player of the week selections will be released January 26.

NJCAA Region 8 Men’s Basketball Player of the Week
Darius Williams, Miami Dade
Freshman – Guard
Augusta, Ga. 

  • Averaged 33.0 points, 4.0 rebounds, 2.5 assists, 0.5 steals and 0.5 blocks in two games
  • Lead Miami Dade to a 2-0 record, including a win over NJCAA No. 6 Palm Beach State
  • Shot 52.3 percent (23-of-44) from the field, 46.7 percent (7-of-15) from the three-point line and 72.2 percent (13-of-18) from the free throw line
  • Scored 31 points on 11-of-19 shooting from the field and 4-of-8 three-pointers in a 77-65 win over Palm Beach State. Added 35 points in a win over ASA Miami

Cloe Lane, St. Petersburg
Freshman – Guard
Blue Springs, Mo. 

  • Averaged 21.0 points, 7.7 rebounds, 1.3 assists, 3.3 steals and 3.0 blocks in three games
  • Included was a 76-71 win over Miami Dade in which Lane scored 30 points (hit seven three-pointers) and pulled down 10 rebounds for the double-double
  • Shot 44.9 percent (22-of-49) from the field, 37.1 percent on three-pointers (13-of-35) and 75.0 percent (6-of-8) from the free throw line
  • Against Broward, scored 15 points and was credited with six rebounds, two assists, five steals and five blocks
