NJCAA Basketball Polls Update: January 6

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (January 6, 2016) - Palm Beach State College's men and Gulf Coast State College's women lead the Region 8 representatives in the NJCAA Division I Basketball Polls.

In the NJCAA Division I Men's Basketball Poll, undefeated Palm Beach State, ranked No. 1 in the NJCAA Region 8 Men's Basketball Coaches' Poll, leads four teams in the top 25. The Panthers sit behind top-ranked Hutchinson (Kan.) Community College and No. 2 Trinity Valley (Texas) Community College. 

Next up is No. 9 Northwest Florida State College (14-2), ranked No. 2 in Region 8.

Both teams held its position from the previous poll in December. 

Daytona State College dropped three spots to No. 19 and Eastern Florida State College slipped seven spots to No. 25. 

In the NJCAA Division I Women's Basketball Poll, five teams from Region 8 are among the nation's best, including a quartet in the top 11. 

Unbeaten Gulf Coast State College, 15-0 and ranked No. 1 in the NJCAA Region 8 Women's Basketball Coaches' Poll, is ranked No. 3. 

Daytona State moved up three spots to No. 5 due in large part to an upset of then-No. 6 Chipola College, who slipped one spot to No. 7. 

Northwest Florida State dropped two spots to No. 11 and Florida State College at Jacksonville rounds out the Region 8 contingent at No. 22. 

Tallahassee Community College, ranked No. 21 in the previous poll, dropped out.
