COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (February 17, 2016) - A 1 vs. 2 matchup could be on the horizon in the upcoming FCSAA Women's State Basketball Tournament.
Thanks to a loss by Trinity Valley (Texas) Community College, Gulf Coast State College moved back into the No. 1 spot in this week's NJCAA Division I Women's Basketball Poll. And right behind the Commodores is No. 2 Daytona State College.
With the teams on opposite sides of the bracket in the upcoming state tournament, a 1 vs. 2 showdown could take place in the championship round on Saturday, March 5.
Gulf Coast State and Daytona State are joined in the top ten by No. 6 Chipola College.
Eastern Florida State College moved into the rankings at No. 25 while Northwest Florida State College fell from the poll but still received votes.
In the NJCAA Division I Men's Basketball Poll, Eastern Florida State College cracked the top five at No. 4.
No. 16 Northwest Florida State is the only team from Region 8 in this week's poll.
Tallahassee Community College received votes.
